World-renowned natural fiber and textile artist from Japan, Akihiko Izukura is presenting at Hawaii Fashion Month’s Kick-off Event on October 1st, 2013.
For the first time ever, Izukura is showcasing his amazingly intricate woven silk tapestries and clothing designs outside of a museum setting. Stunning models will bring life to his creations on Hawaii’s runway. Each piece is hand-dyed and based on a “Zero-Waste” design philosophy. Izukura’s pieces incorporate netting, braiding, weaving and entwining techniques, all of which have been passed down from his prestigious line of master silk weavers for the Imperial family of Japan.
Over twenty pieces will be displayed in a gallery installation for public viewing and purchase during the two days of OUTFIT: Hawaii Fashion Designer’s Market held on October 2nd and 3rd.
Don’t miss out on this once-in-a-lifetime viewing of Akihiko Izukura’s handmade fiber and textile collection!
